Coming soon: an MCP server for SMS
We are building an MCP server for SMSBOX. It will let an AI assistant — Claude, ChatGPT, or an assistant you build yourself — work directly with your SMSBOX account, without having an integration programmed first.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol: an open standard describing how an AI assistant may use external services. You connect the assistant to our server once, and from then on it knows which actions it can perform with us and which data it may request. Where a classic API integration needs custom development, here a single connection the assistant understands by itself is enough.
What becomes possible
- Send messages in plain language — "send tomorrow's participants a reminder" instead of a script
- Pull delivery reports — ask which messages in a campaign did not arrive, and why
- Search your phonebook — look up contacts and groups without digging through the portal
- Check your usage and balance — credit, usage and rates whenever you need them
- Follow up on replies — have incoming messages summarised or sorted
You stay in control
The assistant works with your own API key and can therefore never do more than that key allows. Sending limits, blocked numbers and your opt-out list remain fully in force — an assistant does not work around them. Every send simply lands in your logs and reports, so you can see afterwards exactly what happened.
When will it be available?
The MCP server is still in development and therefore not yet available. There is nothing for you to do now: your existing integrations and API connections keep working unchanged. As soon as the server is ready, we will announce it here along with the setup instructions.
