Native app or web app: which do you choose?
The difference is about what you need to be able to do, not about what is more modern.
The web app
Runs in a browser. One version for every device, instant updates, no app store. Cheaper to build and to maintain.
The native app
Installed on the device. Access to the camera, location, notifications and offline working. Two versions to build and maintain.
The deciding question
Do you genuinely need notifications, offline mode or device hardware? If the answer is no, a web app does the same job for far less.
Presence on the home screen
That is often the real argument and rarely the stated one. A modern web app can also be added to the home screen, which covers part of that need.
The middle option
A shared codebase in a native wrapper. Less capable than a true native app, considerably cheaper, and sufficient for most business use.
